Evan Schechter is a registered patent attorney with extensive experience in intellectual property, commercial litigation, and aerospace engineering. His current practice focuses on patent prosecution in the software and mechanical arts, trademark prosecution, counseling, and federal intellectual property litigation.
Before joining Weiss & Arons LLP, Mr. Schechter gained significant experience representing both plaintiffs and defendants across a broad range of matters, including intellectual property disputes, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and transactional work. He has handled cases involving partnership disputes, mortgage disputes, and insurance defense, acting as first chair in arbitrations and court appearances. His experience also includes drafting briefs for high-profile cases, including an amicus brief before the U.S. Supreme Court and briefs in the Ninth Circuit and Arizona Supreme Court, as well as preparing and prosecuting patent applications and advising clients on intellectual property matters.
Mr. Schechter’s engineering background includes roles at leading airlines, where he contributed to quality assurance, database management, and probabilistic failure analysis for aircraft systems. His technical expertise enriches his ability to counsel clients on complex intellectual property issues.
Mr. Schechter graduated cum laude with a Juris Doctor from Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University, where he earned a certificate in Law, Science, and Technology with a focus on intellectual property. He also holds a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, cum laude, from the Ira A. Fulton School of Engineering at Arizona State University.
